What's up with this stairwell trash pit on 9th street? It's just down from Wagtime. Can the city or the property owner not get this cleaned up? I'm going to submit a service request for this but I'm not sure if the city will do this work.

Last year when we did a vacant property walk with DCRA & the police, we came upon one of our worst stairwells at the hoagie house 4TH & N...the 10 ft deep stairwell was 3/4 filled with seriously nasty trash & human waste...and some guy was asleep on top of it. MPO Barnes woke him up, he put on his headphones, got on his bike & rode away.
900 block of L is getting bad too. there is some phone # on signs there - a-1 management i think?

Thanks Si.
I'll take a stroll around 9/L this weekend to see whats up.
I posted a DC online service request for the trash in the picture. We'll see.

I'm from Calvert County but find your blog inspiring. Litter really bugs me. I did clean up along Potomac this spring. Both there and in your picture, I notice plastic beverage bottles. Wouldn't a deposit fee on beverage bottles with pay to anyone returning empties be some sort of solution? Probably have a lot of trash cleanup by citizens if they received money for the empties. I wouldn't know where to start on this; however, some states do it already, I think.
